The struggle has always been between the Art World and the Trash Man. These foes wage an epic battle and no one can predict the outcome. One seeks to elevate; the other seeks to incinerate. One wields a mighty belief forged by an ideal in spite of practicality; the other wields a mighty shovel forged by a factory and put to the service of practicality. Any work, no matter how pure, no matter how perfect, no matter how inspiring, can only be a provisional work of art. Its true fate will remain in question until one of the two combatants claims ownership, and do not be misled... the Trash Man's pronouncements are as cruel and as final as those of the Art World! I've been working on this web site since 1997 (not continuously of course). It contains many images, artist statements and descriptions of art projects that I've done over the years: oil paintings, reductive sculpture, additive sculpture, drawings, lifecast figures, site works, earthworks, performance art, graphite sketches of impossible machines, figure studies, landscape photos, sculptural jewelry and something that I call "email art" (it's really called "scambaiting" and it's so strange that it's hard to believe). At least fifty percent of my provisional artworks have been claimed by the Trash Man. We'll see what happens to the rest of them.

I also use this web site to help my students learn about art. Teaching is something that I love to do almost as much as making art! Today's university students are really hard to impress and so they help me to keep things in perspective.

If you have any questions or comments about my artworks or you would like to share your thoughts with me, please feel free to contact me through my Contact Page. I would enjoy hearing from you.

Thank you for visiting.
