I wish to acknowledge that I live, play, and work on Treaty 7 territory, which is the traditional homeland of the Niitstiapi (Siksika, Piikani, Kainai), the Îyârhe Nakoda, and the Tsuut’ina Nations. Under the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Constitution, the five territories of the Métis Nation within Alberta are subdivided into Districts to allow for more effective and localized representation. Calgary is home to the Métis Nation Battle River Territory, districts five and six. Treaty relations have not always been honoured and, as a guest of The Métis Nation of Alberta, I strive to restore good relations.
